June 15-18 SoundLab: Middle School Movie Music Lab for Students aged 11-14 [16 max]
Movie Music Lab
1-Week Summer Camp
Movie Music Lab is a fun, hands-on creative camp for students ages 11–14 who love movies, music, and storytelling. Throughout the week, campers work together to create a short film and design the sounds and music that bring it to life.
Students explore how movie soundtracks and sound effects shape emotion and action, learning the basics of film scoring, Foley sound creation, recording techniques, and simple sound editing. Working in small teams, campers help write scenes, film short moments, record sound effects using everyday objects, and compose original music to match what’s happening on screen.
With guidance from an experienced instructor, students take on creative roles such as composer, sound designer, Foley artist, camera operator, or performer, discovering how teamwork and imagination turn ideas into finished projects.
The week ends with a final screening for families, where students share their film and talk about how they created the music and sounds behind it.
Movie Music Lab is perfect for curious, creative students with basic musical experience who are ready to explore how sound and storytelling work together.
June 22-26 Filmscore Lab: Create the Movie. Write the Sound. A Film and Music Creators Program for Students aged 14-16+ [16 max]
FilmScore Lab is an immersive, week-long creative studio experience for students ages 14–16+ who want to explore what happens behind the scenes of movies. This is not a passive camp—it’s a hands-on production lab where students make a short film from scratch and create the complete sound world that brings it to life.
Working in collaborative teams, students take on real production roles: director, composer, sound designer, Foley artist, editor, performer, and producer. Together, they develop a story, film original scenes, and then build the soundtrack—writing original music, recording sound effects, and shaping the emotional arc of the film through sound.
Throughout the week, students learn:
How film music supports mood, pacing, and storytelling
How Foley sounds are created and synced to picture
Recording techniques for dialogue, effects, and music
How to layer, edit, and mix sound for film
How creative teams collaborate in real film and media studios
Using professional-style tools and workflows, students experiment with sound design, scoring, recording, and editing, gaining practical experience that mirrors how music and sound are created for film, television, and games.
The week culminates in a final film screening, where students present their completed project and reflect on the creative choices that shaped it—from the first story idea to the final sound mix.
FilmScore Lab is ideal for students who love music, film, technology, storytelling, or any combination of the above—and who are ready to create something original, challenging, and meaningful. No acting experience is required, but curiosity, collaboration, and creative risk-taking are essential.
